"The physical and mental stress in my life became evident one day when I felt an extreme tightening in the muscles in my left hip. I tried medicine and various forms of physical therapy to no avail, and my ability to walk deteriorated to the point where I found myself confined to my home unable to move without discomfort. When I came across Kate’s website, I was immediately interested and began MAT treatments with her right away. After the first session, I knew I had found a way out of my predicament. Now I am having treatments on an ongoing basis, and my leg continues to feel better and stronger every day. Because I am moving more freely now, I am able to take long walks daily on the beach, and I am looking forward to getting back into ballroom dancing, which I had enjoyed for years. I have benefitted not only from her treatments but also from our discussions about the indispensable mental aspect of any physical healing. Under Kate’s guidance, I have also made lifestyle changes that include a healthy diet and a daily NutriiVeda drink for purposes of detoxification and weight management. I have enjoyed immensely my MAT sessions, and I anticipate an ongoing program to continue progressing in a new, healthy, and positive direction. I am very grateful to you, Kate. "

"I had been suffering from Iliotibial band (IT Band) syndrome . A Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) Specialist, Kate Allgood, had been referred to me by my Massage Therapist. Kate explained the MAT approach to me "providing a systematic approach for evaluating and treating muscular imbalances that contribute to lower back pain or injury". During the sessions she observed where my muscle imbalances existed by testing the strength of different sets of muscles. The treatment was her lightly pressing her fingers against the muscles she observed I was under utilizing. Between each session she gave exercises to do which isolated the muscles I was under utilizing: the exercises were not stretches, they were essentially movements that isolated the muscles, in this case in my leg, hips, and thigh. From the beginning of the sessions I gradually increased the length of my bike rides. After 3 - 4 weeks I was biking 35 miles, the length of the rides prior to experiencing the IT Band issue. MAT works, I can attest to it. I would highly recommend Kate Allgood at Balanced Bodyworks "

"Years of competitive endurance sport training and competition along with the everyday riggers of life have allowed minor, nuisance injuries to manifest themselves to the point where the simple task of putting on a shirt was an extremely painful event. Shoulder and lower back pain reduced my daily physical training to minimal efforts and racing was out of the question. Hearing about Muscle Activation Techniques, I was hesitant due to the lack of success of all the other therapies I have tried with little to no results. Within the first few sessions my hesitancy was replaced with a very optimistic outlook. Kate’s approach to identifying the issues and mapping out a plan to systematically correct the bio-mechanical imbalances have resulted in reduced pain in my lower back and an increased range of motion in my shoulders that I haven’t had in years. Each session has the overall recovery moving in a positive direction that I am confident will ultimately result in me once again competing at the competitive level I was previously at. Kate explains the process in a way that is easy to understand and her personal commitment to addressing my injuries goes beyond the physical component of healing and has had a tremendous effect on my mental healing. THANKS KATE !! "

" I have had chronic back and neck pain for over 15 years, due to a combination of flat feet, weight-lifting and sports injuries. I’ve seen a chiropractor once a week for the past 7 or 8 years and have had to do yoga 2-3 times a week to stay loose and minimize the pain. Recently, I hurt my lower back doing deadlifts and couldn’t workout for 2 months. My brother attended one of Kate’s seminars and the principles of Muscle Activation Techniques made sense so I decided to give it a shot. After several treatment sessions with Kate and doing the MAT exercises she gave me, the lower back pain is gone and I am working out hard again. I feel stronger and notice an increase in range of motion. I also do not have to do yoga to stay loose because I am doing more active exercises. I also haven’t seen my chiropractor for over 2 months and feel better than before. Thank you Kate for helping me with my problems. I also appreciate how she genuinely cares about me as a person and the engaging conversation during our sessions. She has also helped one of my friends a great deal and I will continue to refer people to her. "

"I began seeing Kate to help with my golf swing, it didn’t seem to matter how many lessons I took or finding the perfect clubs nothing seemed to help elevate my game. After just a few sessions I noticed how much easier my swing seemed and how much more control I had over where the ball went. To say I am pleased with the results I have seen is an understatement, I would highly recommend Kate and Muscle Activation Techniques to anyone!"

"I was playing in a hockey tournament when I injured my shoulder. I couldn't lift my shoulder without pain. I didn't know anything about Muscle Activation Techniques but I was lucky enough to have Kate as a teammate. After telling her what happened to my shoulder, she was able to not only make the pain go away, but it felt better than it did before! To say Muscle Activation Techniques is phenomenal is an understatement! I not only tell all my friends and colleagues about this experience, but I will definitely continue to get treatments to keep my body in check!"

"I fell and hurt my back last year. My back hurt so bad that i couldn't sit, stand, drive or walk without pain. I tried acupuncture, massage, heat therapy, medication, and cupping therapy but they did not work well. My friend told me about his chronic back pain, and how he tried different ways to heal his back that didn't work until he found Kate Allgood. I have been seeing Kate Allgood for over two and half months and now have considerable less pain. She has been very helpful and now I can do daily activities that I wasn't able to do before. "

"I met Greg when we were trying to solve a problem with my hamstring. I had had great chiropractic care, great care from trainers, I stayed in shape, exercised well; I had no excuse for this problem. After a couple of short visits with Greg where, along with the MAT treatment, we discussed bio-mechanics, how muscles inter-relate with each other, and how the body is designed to move, my hamstring problem was gone. It was all delivered in a way that made sense: using the mechanics of the body, strengthening some areas that seemed strong but were functionally weak in how they related with other muscles, and when we connected that imbalance, the problem went away. "I've seen the benefit for both athletes and the general public. I, myself, have experienced what MAT can do for a person who does athletics for a living, and I've seen it work for people who are close to me... particularly young kids who are developing. They can't figure out why they have pain and can't figure out why they can't continue to develop. If bio-mechanical imbalances are addressed at a young age, kids can take what they've learned and go to great heights that they otherwise wouldn't be able to achieve."

" I've worked with a lot of massage therapists, chiropractors and physical therapists. The Muscle Activation Techniques method is one of the most successful out there and will make each type of practitioner better at his or her job. "
